You’ve seen the articles, heard the news reports, and maybe even seen a film about it: earthquakes and seismic issues related to buildings continue to gain the interest of the public and policy makers across Southern California. Because of the work done by the structural engineering community, the public and civic leadership of Southern California are more aware of seismic risk today than a year ago; and in the last 4 years, the SEAOSC Summit has helped lead the effort to educate leaders on seismic safety.

Every year, the SEAOSC Summit presented by the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) brings together community leaders to present resources and tools for building owners, businesses, and government officials to understand the risk they face and how to mitigate losses.

Summit Hosts:

The 2015 SEAOSC Summit is presented by the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California, in partnership with the Building Owners & Managers Association of Greater LA (BOMA GLA), the California Building Officials (CALBO), and the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG).

Goals:

  1. Educate those present on the latest tools, techniques, rules, and proposals — and how to use them – as related to a building seismic stability and
  2. Convene government, business, and technical experts to move forward together to address the community’s need for
  3. Highlight trends and best practices for building owners, businesses, and government in addressing existing buildings built before the latest code
